    hello,

I must say that I LOVED podcamp.. oh how great.. nice meeting you as well, should be added.

On the podcast thing.. you know there are different consumption patterns surrounding audio podcasts, video podcasts, and lets say streaming video content... last I had heard, and certainly it's true in my own case.. people consume a lot more audio podcasts then video podcasts.. simply because one can listen to them while driving, working out, or whatever.. were as video demands a little more of our attention.

Word has it that Google's android will give you data for your podcasts that will include if it was listened to, how long they listened to it.. and I suppose all the same kinda data you could get out of a flash app.. there's certainly weaknesses to the kind of metrics and analytics we use with respect to podcasts.. and other sorts of online media.. But there's also, of course, issues with stuff surrounding offline media.. which for some reason we tend to not look at the same way.. if for no other reason then because it's a little more established.

A podcast you might want to check out.. that relates to some of this stuff.. is This Week in Media..

For stuff related to marketing and pr and all that.. the ones I usually listen to are Marketing over coffee, Managing the Gray, six pixels of separation, for Immediate Release, and Jaffe Juice.

Hmm.. it might be helpful to check out the Boston social media club to, its generally very good for seeing how companies are adopting social media.. and all that sorta thing.

    cheers,
    matt

I'm a newer SMC member--waiting for the next event they have I can make it for. I do find them to be very helpful overall.

And I don't really disagree with you when it comes to podcasts, I just think that the proportion of people who download them to the people who actually LISTEN to them is a wide black hole. I download the audio ones because I think I might listen to them in the car but never do and I don't think I'm alone on that one!

If Android can do that level of tracking -- WOW. But first they have to deliver. ;)
